Declutter the Yard and Improve Curb Appeal
Curb appeal is the first impression buyers get of your home so let’s start here. If you have 27 adorable gnomes in your yard, now is the time to pack them away. These friendly faces will only distract they eye from your home. Do you have a broken swing on the front porch? Fix it or get rid of it. Are the weeds taking over your yard like the 1995 version of Jumanji? Take care of them. All the pots of dead flowers on the front porch need to be replaced with fresh plants. The trick is to make your yard look clean and low-maintenance.
Bonus Tip: Paint the front door to make the home look fresh and clean.
Declutter the Kitchen
Especially before the photographer comes and before showings, the kitchen is a huge focal point that needs to be tidy. Clear off all the countertops. Hide the toaster, the blender, the paper towel holder, and yes, even your super cute collection chickens. Now is the time for you to do a major cleanout of your kitchen cabinets and drawers. Declutter the Living Area
Buyers want to envision themselves living their lives in your home. It’s hard to do that when they are distracted by the kid toys, the dog bowls, and the family pictures. If you have a collection of Elvis plates displayed, now is the time to jumpstart your packing before moving from your home. Hide the tattered throw blankets. Replace the pillows on the sofa with fresh ones. Hide the stack of magazines and books on the coffee table. And touch up that spot on the door where the paint is peeling.
