Why I Love Country Music Part 2

Last week, I wrote about why I Love Country Music. It brings people together, and it’s all about life and love.

Last weekend at Gulf Coast Jam, we sat near an older man in a wheelchair wearing a hat with the word: VETERAN. Every time he would leave to get something to eat or go to the restroom, the sea of bag chairs parted, the guys would remove their hats, and everyone shook his hand as he came by.

When Billy Ray Cyrus sang “Some Gave All,” everyone in our section walked up to thank him. When Rodney Atkins sang, “It’s America,” everyone around came up to the man to pat him on the back. And all throughout the festival, people bought him drinks.

Yes, there were plenty of rednecks and wannabe cowboys last weekend, but THIS is why I love country music. Every single artist thanks our veterans, our troops, their families, the police, and the first responders. This has been happening every year that I have attended Gulf Coast Jam, and this is why I will attend every year.

“And if there’s anyone that still has pride and the memory of those

That died defending the old red, white and blue

This is country music and we do”

-Brad Paisley
